Two-Step Authentication (2FA) adds extra security to your Valcre account. By enabling this feature, you will be required to enter a six-digit security code (in addition to your password) whenever you log in to your Valcre account.

To qualify for two-step authentication, you will need a mobile device capable of receiving text messages or running an authenticator app. Using an authenticator app is generally more secure than receiving codes via text message, especially in cases where your phone is lost or stolen.

 

Valcre offers two options for 2FA

Use the guide below for setting up your 2FA in your preferred method. 

 

Option 1: Authenticator App (Recommended)

Authenticator apps offer more security. Recommended options:

  • Auth0 Guardian App
  • Google Authenticator 
  • Microsoft Authenticator 

Steps to Set Up:

  1. Navigate to your Account page on the Valcre platform.



  2. Select Security



  3. Select Enable Two-Factor Authentication.



  4. Select your Authenticator App
  • Default and Valcre recommend App: Auth0 Guardian App.
When using Guardian as your authentication, after entering your login credentials into Valcre Online, Guardian will push a notification on your mobile device prompting you to approve the login. 
    • Once downloaded onto your mobile device, select Continue
    • Open the Auth0 Guardian App (Guardian), select Add from the top right, and scan the onscreen QR code



      • Different Authentication App:
        When using one of these apps as an authenticator, upon entering your login credentials on Valcre Online, you will be prompted to open your authenticator app and locate the temporary code to enter in the one-time code field.
      • Select Try Another Method
    • Select Google Authenticator or similar:

       
  1. Scan the QR code provided using your chosen authenticator app.
  2. Enter the code generated by the app, then click Continue.

Option 2: Text Message Verification

If you prefer, you can receive your two-factor authentication codes via text message.

Steps to Set Up:

  1. Navigate to your Account page on the Valcre platform.



  2. Select Security



  3. Select Enable Two-Factor Authentication.



  4. Select Try another method



  5. Select SMS



  6. Enter your Country Code & Phone Number, then select Continue.



  7. Enter the code sent to your mobile device, then select Continue.

Now, whenever you log in to Valcre, you will need to enter the code sent to your phone via text message.

Additional Recommendations

  • Keep Your Recovery Codes Secure: Store them in a password manager or another safe location.
  • Use an Authenticator App When Possible: It's more secure than text message verification.
  • Ensure Your Contact Information is Up to Date: If you lose access to your registered phone number, you may have trouble logging in.
