Written Guide

Step 1: Open the Narrative Writer

In content blocks of the Valuation Workbook where Narrative Writer is supported, select the Writer button. The Narrative Generator will open to the right of your workbook.

Step 2: Select your preferred Narrative style.

Select preferred style using the dropdown option, review the narrative, and make any necessary changes directly in the narrative. 

Step 3: Add the generated narrative to your workbook.

Select Use Narrative to input the content from the Writer into the applicable comment box on your workbook sheet.

Step 4: When you have completed the workbook, connect and sync it to your branded Appraisal Report (located in your downloads tab of Valcre Online)

Note: Valcre has provided a helper file allowing you to include additional content controls to support the narrative created by the Narrative Writer in the following  blocks of narrative: Regional Area Analysis, CMA1 Market Analysis, CMA2 Market Analysis, Commercial Rent Roll Analysis and Cap Rate: National Survey.

  • If you are not utilizing the Narrative Writer, you do not need to use the helper file. 
  • If you would like these content controls permanently added to your report template, please send your report, with the content controls added to your preferred sections to Valcre Support. They will upload it to the downloads tab of Valcre Online for your access.

Q: What if I doesn’t see the Writer button?

A:s. If you are unable to see the Writer button, follow the below troubleshooting steps:

  1. Confirm sheet is supported
  2. Confirm your add-in is updated to the required version.
  3. Confirm you’re using a supported workbook version.

Q: Is the AI editable after insertion?A: Once inserted, to edit it, select the Writer box and edit the narrative within the Narrative generator. Select Use Narrative to update the comment field in your workbook.
Q: Can I access the Narrative Writer using an older version of the workbook or report? A: No, the Narrative Writer modules are only available in workbook versions 1.7.1+. You must also have the add-in version of 2.1.0+ for Narrative Writer to function properly. 
Q: When I press the Writer button, nothing happens. This can occasionally happen within Excel as a product, and is not a bug with the Valcre product. Select any cell in your sheet, and then reselect the WRITER button, this will allow the button to trigger the Narrative Writer box to open.
