Valcre Download Guidelines for Antivirus Software

If Valcre downloads are being blocked or failing silently, the issue is typically your browser, antivirus software, or firewall. This guide walks through the most common causes and how to resolve them, so you can get back to your appraisal workflow without needing to contact IT first.

Table of Contents

Prerequisites

  1. You have attempted to download a file from Valcre and the download failed, was blocked, or did not complete
  2. You have access to your browser settings
  3. For antivirus or enterprise policy issues, you may need your IT team involved

Download Blocked by Browser

Cause: Your browser does not have permission to automatically download files from Valcre.

Fix for Chrome:

Step 1: In Chrome, open Settings.

Step 2: Navigate to Privacy and Security, then select Site Settings.

Step 3: Scroll to Additional Permissions and select Automatic Downloads.

Step 4: Confirm that the Valcre site is either listed under Allowed or is not listed under Blocked.

Step 5: Retry the download.

Fix for Edge:

Step 1: In Edge, open Settings.

Step 2: Select Cookies and Site Permissions.

Step 3: Select Automatic Downloads.

Step 4: Add the Valcre site to the Allow list.

Step 5: Retry the download.

Pop-up or Multiple File Download Restriction

Cause: Browsers block multiple simultaneous file downloads by default. This can occur if you have selected a download link more than once.

Fix: When prompted near the address bar, select Allow to permit the download.

Pro tip: If you do not see the prompt, check whether your browser is silently blocking the download in the downloads bar or notification area.

File Type Blocked by Browser or Antivirus Software

Cause: Some browsers or antivirus software block specific file types by policy (for example, .exe or .zip files) or based on the source URL.

Step 1: Check your browser's download bar for files marked as Discarded.

Step 2: Review your security software logs to confirm whether a file was quarantined or blocked.

Step 3: If the issue is tied to your antivirus software, whitelist the following domains with your antivirus provider:

  • s.valcre.com
  • propfiles.blob.core.windows.net

propfiles.blob.core.windows.net is a Microsoft Azure address that Valcre uses to serve files. Because it is not branded to Valcre, some security software flags it. Whitelisting it is safe.

Step 4: If you need help completing this step or are unable to whitelist the domains yourself, contact the Valcre Support team via live chat

OS-Level File System Restriction

Cause: Downloading to certain folder types can trigger permission errors, particularly when file syncing or locking is active.

Locations that may cause issues:

  • OneDrive folders (especially when sync is active)
  • Network drives
  • Protected system directories

Fix:

Step 1: Retry the download and save to one of the following locations instead:

  • Desktop
  • Documents folder
  • A local folder that is not synced to OneDrive or a network drive

Step 2: If the download succeeds, move the file to your preferred location after the download completes.

OneDrive in particular can block downloads if file locking is active during sync. Saving locally first is the fastest workaround.

Enterprise or Admin Policy Restrictions

Cause: On managed devices, Group Policy settings or antivirus sandboxing may prevent downloads at the system level.

Step 1: Test whether the issue is policy-related by trying any of the following:

  • A different browser
  • An Incognito or private browsing window
  • A different local directory

Step 2: If the issue persists across all of the above, the restriction is likely enforced at the device or network level. Contact your IT administrator or help desk to request that Valcre downloads be permitted.

The support team can provide your IT administrator with the specific domains to whitelist. Reach out via live chat to get that information.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

The download starts but disappears immediately without saving. This usually means the file was quarantined by antivirus software. Check your security software logs and refer to the File Type Blocked section above.
I see "Discarded" next to my download in Chrome. Chrome discarded the file because it did not meet its safe browsing criteria. This is common with .exe or .zip files from URLs that are not recognized as known safe domains. Whitelisting propfiles.blob.core.windows.net with your antivirus provider typically resolves this.
I whitelisted the domains but the download is still blocked. Your device may have a Group Policy restriction that overrides browser-level settings. Refer to the Enterprise or Admin Policy section and contact your IT team.
I am not sure which antivirus software my company uses.  Your IT team or help desk will have this information. You can also check Windows Security under Virus and Threat Protection to see your active antivirus provider.
Who do I contact if none of these steps work? Reach out to the Valcre Support team via live chat directly in the platform or via email. Support can walk through additional troubleshooting steps or coordinate with your IT team.
