The Maps tab in Valcre Online enhances your ability to view and download FEMA Flood Maps for properties. This feature allows you to easily access flood zone information based on the property’s specific latitude and longitude, providing critical insights for appraisals and real estate analysis.

This guide will walk you through how to effectively use the Maps tab, including accessing FEMA Flood Maps, utilizing the map legend, downloading images, and using new zoom and copy features as well as the property record fields related to Flood Maps.

Prerequisites

  1. Subscription: Valid with all Valcre subscriptions
  2. Property Information: A property with latitude and longitude loaded into Valcre Online
  3. Latest Workbook and Add in installed (for workbook FEMA functions)

 

Access the Maps Tab

Step 1: Navigate to the Properties tab in Valcre Online.
Step 2: Select the Maps tab from the top menu.

Viewing the FEMA Flood Map

Map Type: Toggle between Map and Satellite maps
Map Display: The FEMA Flood Map will automatically display based on the property’s latitude and longitude that you entered and will display Flood Panel Number, Flood Map Date, and Flood Zone. 

Map Legend: By default, the map legend is visible in the bottom right corner of the map. The legend provides important details about the flood zones and map symbols.

  • Show/Hide Legend: To hide or show the map legend, toggle the checkbox labeled Show map legend in the bottom right corner of the map.
     

Zoom In/Out: The map includes zoom controls for better navigation and clarity.

Save Zoom Settings: After adjusting the zoom level, selecting Save will store your zoom settings for future use.

Downloading and Saving the Map

Download Button: A new Download button allows you to download the FEMA Flood Map image for your records.

Copy and Save Buttons:

  • A Copy button is located next to the Download button. This feature allows you to copy the map image URL for easy sharing.
The Save button saves your map options and zoom level

Flood Record Details

The Property Record includes 3 properties for Zone, Panel, and Map Number. These are located under the Site section and will automatically update when a Flood Map is created or refreshed. No re-entry needed by you.

 

 

With Workbook versions 1.7.1+ and Add-in version 1.2.1+, FEMA fields will now populate in the SITE sheet of your workbook. 

 

Adding the Map to your Report

There are two easy options to add the FEMA Flood Map to your report, or you can choose to add the FEMA content controls to your Report template

Copy and Paste
To copy the map into your report, select the Copy button. Then, open your report and paste (CTRL + V) the map image in the desired location
Download and Insert
To add the downloaded map to your report, use Word’s Insert Image function to place the image where you want it within your document.
Add FEMA Content Controls to your Report template: If you would like to permanently add Flood Maps to your template, follow these directions and send your report template to our Product Support team. They will upload the new template to the downloads tab of your Valcre Online instance.
